Qinghai Red Cross Hospital, founded in 1949, is a 3A hospital (First level in the Chinese hospital ranking system) in Qinghai province. Being a member of the International SOS，the hospital also undertakes the tasks of treating patients, teaching medical students, directing junior hospitals, and responding to provincial 120-first-aid. As one of the three provincial biggest integrative hospitals, Qinghai Red Cross Hospital has engaged in the projects of provincial health insurance, rural cooperative medical insurance, urban residents’ health insurance, employment injury insurance and maternity insurance.
Located in the center of the downtown, covering the area of 60,000 square meters and owning 1050 authorized beds, the hospital has developed rapidly in the past few years. There is 1,025 staff in the hospital, including 852 medical professionals, 184 associate professors, 18 administrative leaders and 2 winners of special government allowance. The hospital consists of 47 clinical and technical departments with 1,005 opening beds. It provided service to 617,198 out-patients and in 2009 and performed 10,589 surgical operations in the past years.
Together with clinical technical improvement, the hospital is equipped with more than 465 advanced facilities, such as MRI, Spiral CT, Color Ultrasound, Automated bio-chemistry analyzer, etc. Moreover, the new surgical building has equipped with the purified laminar flow operation rooms and ICU departments. The wards in medical building and surgical building are decorated with hotel standards.
The hospital is striding ahead in department construction. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is not only the provincial key department，but the biggest professional department in the province. Under the leadership of Prof. Zhang Jianqing, the chief director and academic leading expert, the department has become the biggest department of gynecology and obstetrics even in northwest china. ICU is also a famous department in the emergency treatment relying on its technology and skills. Featured with the laparoscope technique, the surgical department takes the first place of performing laparoscope operations in the province. Both the pathology department and the clinical laboratory department are the provincial key departments. What’s more, Digestion Internal Medicine department, Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology department, radiology department have already achieved provincial advanced levels.
In recent years, hospital management has been meliorated simultaneously. With the introduction of ISO 9001 quality certification system in 2002 and ISO 14001-environment certification system in 2008, a scientific and standardized management is adopted in the hospital operating procedure. Moreover , the hospital are engaging to get the international authentication of JCI. The hospital has established academic collaboration with the domestic famous hospitals such as the Affiliated Hospital of Capital Medical University, No.5 People’s Hospital in Shanghai, etc.
On July 21, 2011，the hospital has accessed the JCI international accreditation successfully，and became the uniquely hospital which made this honor even in the northwest of china.
